Alternative Investment Opportunities

One part of our portfolio which is beginning to show a more rapid growth is the investment advice to High Net Worth Individuals and High Valued but small private corporate clients. These relationships have developed over many years and for the most part these relationships have created a number of Interesting opportunities and exclusive deals. Not least in secured bonds, private equity investments, property development and property syndicate deals.

Our advice here is that these HNWI’s worldwide have probably built an established portfolio of stocks and shares, maybe some tax-efficient investments, such as the VCT, EIS or SEIS vehicles commonly invested in the UK . But what if you want to add something a little different?

Perhaps you are looking for a better home for your cash – especially given the worldwide unprecedented low interest rates. It is already being accepted that some banks are considering paving the way to charge customers for holding their deposits. In this context, taking some risk in exchange for the potential of better returns may appear a more palatable option.

Maybe you wish to consider diversify your portfolio further by investing in assets which may be broadly uncorrelated to stock-market investments or offer some degree of inflation proofing.

We only introduce opportunities we believe can deliver on their promises and which have merit for investors.

In understanding the aforementioned it is our experience that all of our HNWI’s clients have recognised the need to diversify in a growing list of enterprises, these may consist of companies, real estate investments and personal investments, such as art, aircraft, fine wines and classic cars.

When people with lower net worth’s look at these HNWI’s, many of them believe that the key to becoming wealthy lies in some sort of secret investing strategy. However, this isn't normally the case. Instead, HNWI’s appreciate the basics of having their money work for them and know how to take calculated risks. This is the ethos we work to. Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett, extols the virtue that the No. 1 investing rule is to not lose money.

The key factors into CSG’s introductions and advice include

* Look to frontier and emerging markets.

* Decide whether these opportunities fit into their investment portfolios investment strategies.

* Understand the value of physical assets, and recommend investment accordingly.

* Invest in such assets as private and commercial real estate, land, gold and even artwork. Real estate continues to be a popular asset in order to balance out the volatility of stocks.

* Consider liquid assets, especially ones that are uncorrelated with the market, is beneficial to any investment portfolio. These assets aren't as susceptible to market swings, and they pay off over the long term

* Understand that real wealth is generated in the private markets rather than the public or common markets. The HNWI’s may gain a lot of their initial wealth from private businesses, often through direct business ownership or as an angel investor in private equity

* Do not get caught up in competition. trying to chase the competition or becoming scared from the inevitable economic downturn, stay the course. * understand the practice of re balancing portfolios. Through consistent re balancing, investors can ensure their portfolios remain adequately diversified and proportionally allocated.

* Always work on the basis that financial plan is a dual strategy. Invest wisely and save wisely.

* The aim is constant that our HNWI’s clients increase their cash inflows whilst reducing cash outflows.
